Concept Details


Created by Taiwanese artists Hu, Chin-Hsiang and Tsai Bing-Hua, this piece attempts to use a hybrid reality, LED lights, wearable devices, and fans to build a installation that uploads the human mind to digital space. Imagine that upload process can see virtual object in real space. When you see the virtual object and feel the influence (wind and vibration), after passing through the upwardly extending tunnel, the screen enters the completely virtual space, but you don't know whether the upload is completed.

Combining VR and depth-aware camera, it instantly creates the illusion of false and real interlacing in space, and sees that his hand is digital.

LED

The light changes in the real space, let the sound, light and virtual illusion pull the audience away from reality, you can't tell whether it is true or not when you experience it.

Fan

Passing the touch in the digital space, allowing the virtual image to directly affect the viewer

Touch

The virtual image is directly in contact with the viewer in the digital space, and is presented to the audience through the vibration-sensing clothing.

Use Unity 3D in conjunction with Oclucs Rift to let the audience experience the VR virtual space, and then use the Zed Mini Camera, so that viewers can see the real world wearing VR glasses, and the images show the virtual objects of the audience through the instant particle effects. , use the program to create unlimited tunnels and space composed of squares.

The wearable device contains 8 vibration motors. Arduino Fio writes several programs and receives computer signals through Xbee. There are 8 fans around the audience. The fan uses the AC dimmer device to instantly adjust the current and control the air volume.

Both the wearable device and the fan integrate the Serial and OSC signals through openFrameworks(ofxSerial,ofxGui,ofxPubSubOsc). Unity tells the oF which motor to vibrate and also tells the oF to play the fan's program number.

There are also 8 groups of LEDs around the audience. The IC is WS2812. Through Pixelpusher control, the software uses Processing to write real-time programs.

胡縉祥Hu, Chin-Hsiang(Peppercorns)
The continuous creation of art and an accumulation of life experiences have led Chin-Hsiang Hu to take on various identities: artist, engineer, interactive designer, lecturer, etc. Even so, he still desires to focus his work on the creation of new media art to examine the over-development of science and technology. Each kind of creative direction expressed a different idea and required the use of different technologies. In terms of integrating technologies, the development of interactive software played a very important role in his development. He chose openFrameworks to create visual and audio recognition technology, while ActionScript was used to form real time audio and visual effects, and to manage the interactive devices, augmented reality, and motion sensors. By combining different artistic forms, he built his creative skills and abilities. He continuously challenged himself to create works that form a dialogue between his personal experiences and new media art. He works form the assumption that though the performing arts, interactive art, and visual art are separate disciplines, their combination can give rise to a new form of technology-based performing arts. 蔡秉樺Tsai Bin-Hua(PSquare)
Interactive designer/new media artist, currently working on interactive experience design, creative programming education, scientific and artistic creation, etc., graduated from the National Taiwan University of the Arts, Multimedia Animation Art Department, new media art master class, works have been shortlisted and exhibited in the national art Exhibition (2016), Venice Laguna International Art Prize (2014), Argentina Rosario (2013) and Moscow (2014) 404 Electronic Arts Festival, Taipei Digital Arts Festival (2013), Taoyuan Creative Art Award ( 2013) and so on. In 2013, he co-founded the new media art team “PSquare Media Lab” with new media artist Shi Weiren, focusing on new media art performances and cross-disciplinary creations. He has won many awards and invited performances, such as the performance plan Resonate 2 was selected. He performed at the SLINGSHOT Festival (2015) in the United States and at the Stockholm Fringe Festival (2016) in the following year. Website

張兆慶Chang, Zhao-Qing(Peppercorns)
Senior interactive designer, currently working on interactive experience design, education, science and technology creation. He has nearly 5 years of interactive design experience. His works have been exhibited at the 404 Electronic Arts Festival in Japan in 2018. He has also taught interactive courses in Beijing and Shanghai.
